Singing Lessons

My aim is to provide a supportive learning environment in which singers can develop confidence in singing, performance and musicianship. I want the students that I teach to be inspired to explore their voice and all the possibilities of style and genre open to them.

I adopt a 'holistic' approach to learning, using the best vocal practice and includes the study of:

  • Body alignment & breath control.

  • A solid vocal technique to give the student knowledge of their voice and how to look after it.

  • Singing styles taught include Art song, Music Theatre and Folk song.

  • Sight-reading is developed through the Kodaly approach.

  • Drama and movement to ignite the students' imaginations and develop their interpretation skills.

My students have a track record in gaining excellent results in practical exams with ABRSM, Trinity, youth choir and stage auditions.

I have a level 7 coaching qualification as part of my MA in Vocal Pedagogy which I use to assist students who may suffer for performance anxiety.

All lessons are via zoom. A virtual folder is given to each student that contains practice materials and backing tracks. Lessons are 30 minutes for children aged between 8-11 years in the early stages of training. Lessons also include aural training, sight-reading skills and of course lots of repertoire. Sixty -minute lessons are recommended for the more advanced student. Discounts for 5 lessons paid for in advance and on students sharing.

Adult lessons are arranged to suit individual needs. I have an eclectic mix of clients from beginners to professionals looking for voice care suggestions.
